LIMA AIRPORT PERU – JORGE CHAVEZ INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (LIM)
Jorge Chavez International Airport (LIM) or known in Spanish as Aeropuerto Internacional Jorge Chavez, is Peru’s main international and domestic airport located in the city of Callao and is named after the famous Peruvian aviator Jorge Chavez. The airport is located 10kms from Lima’s Historical Centre and 17km from the tourist district of Miraflores. ATM’s, Banks, Money Exchange
At any main international airport there are sure to be sufficient ATM’s and money exchange service and Lima Jorge Chavez is definitely on of them. Jorge Chavez International Airport is made up of 2 floors and on each floor there are ATM’s and money exchange counters. On the second floor of Lima’s Airport next to iPeru tourism information office, there are ATM stations where all 4 of Peru’s major banks are located. These 4 banks are ScotiaBank, BBVA Intercontinental, BCP and GlobalNet. It is always a good idea to check if your bank has any arrangements with these 4 banks which could save you a lot of fees.
Lima Duty Free
Duty Free can be a highlight for many travellers and Lima Jorge Chavez Airport does not disappoint. Located in International Departures Concourse and International Arrivals Concourse and can only be accessed by passengers. Open 24/7 have an exclusive shopping experience on tax free products. Anything from perfumes, cosmetics, liquor, electrical goods and clothing can be purchased while waiting for your connection flight to Cusco Airport.
Wi-Fi
The Wi-Fi at Lima Jorge Chavez Airport can be limited. Visitors to the airport are allowed only 30 minutes of free Wi-Fi at 15 minute intervals, after those 30 minutes you will need to pay per hour by credit card. There are a few cafes that offer free unlimited Wi-Fi after purchasing food and siting inside the cafes. Leaving Lima Jorge Chavez Airport there is no Wi-Fi until getting to Miraflores. There is also free Wi-Fi on our buses to and from the airport.
Health
Located on the first floor of Lima Jorge Chavez Airport at the domestic arrivals area is the International Air Health Unit. Here you are able to get your Yellow Fever vaccine shots, especially for those that will be travelling to the Amazon during their time in Peru. There are many countries where having the Yellow Fever vaccine is a requirement to enter the country after visiting Peru such as Australia and Bolivia.
